Day 3. Full Day Tours in Tromso
In the morning your private guide will pick you up for a private sightseeing tour in Tromso. We start the tour visiting the Polaria environmental center and aquarium to watch the film from Svalbard and wander around in the aquarium to take a look at the seals. We continue our tour to the world’s northernmost brewery “The Mack Brewery” of the city. There we will hear about Amundsen, Tromso city history and all the fascinating architecture in Tromso. On our way to the Polar Museum we drive past the Catholic church and the square with the monument of all fishermen lost at sea. Lunch in one of the local restaurants. After lunch – departure for Saami adventure – we drive to the wilderness, to an uninhabited area. Here we welcome you to our wilderness camp that is the starting ending point for excursions out in the wilderness. The camp consists of a rough timber cabin, several big lavvos (Sami tents), a sauna, hot tub, and wardrobe and toilet facilities. The afternoon and night you will stay in the wilderness. The adventure starts with a Sami experience. Reindeer sledding is the oldest form of transport in the north, and an ancient part of Sami culture. The adventure includes trying out lasso-throwing, visiting a Sami family lavvo, and learning about Sami culture and history with an introduction to traditional Sami handicraft. Dinner will be served in the camp. Enjoy the open fire in the tent, a hot meal and coffee or tea. In the period of November-March, you have the opportunity to experience the Northern lights. Also you will learn how to use snowshoes and venture into the white landscape. The night you spend sleeping by the open fire in the Sami tent.
